In what is arguably the closest team battle of the meet, any of four teams could hoist the year’s biggest prize Saturday afternoon at the CIF State Championships at Woodward Park.
Southern Section champs Oak Park edged South Pasadena by just nine points (107-116) with Newhall Hart 10 points back (126) in third. Burroughs Ridgecrest ran its race of the year for fourth with 135.
Moraga Campolindo secured six of the top 16 spots in running away with the North Coast Section title while Shingle Springs Ponderosa edged Oakdale 66-69 to win the Sac-Joaquin Section.
Individually, Dana Hills superstar Evan Noonan has been among the Golden State elite for years. The defending divisional champion here, Noonan is fresh off a Southern Section title in 14:42.9 on the revamped Mt. SAC course.
