Oaks Christian will try to reproduce a spectacular sectional final performance at the CIF Cross Country State Championships at Woodward Park this Saturday at 11 a.m.
The Lions got sub-16:00 clockings from each of their top five to easily defeat previously top-ranked San Juan Capistrano JSerra 43-72 in winning the Southern Section at Mt. SAC last Saturday.
Ventura Foothill Tech (third last year), Berkeley St Mary’s College Prep (sixth in 2023), Palos Verdes and San Anselmo Archie Williams out of the North Coast Section should be in the podium hunt as well.
Sunset League winner Max Douglass won the Southern Section Division 4 individual title for Corona Del Mar and should battle Christian Yoder of Oaks Christian and Sonora (SJS) superstar Broen Holman to the line. Holman was third a year ago, running 14:46.4, with Santa Cruz senior Eli Fitchen-Young finishing fourth last season in 14:49.5.
