Leopard Invitational Recap

The Leopard Invite kicked off with the men’s 110m hurdles, going straight to a final where Concordia University-Irvine (CUI) swept the top two spots. The CUI women matched that energy in the 100m final, also taking 1st and 2nd. Their dominance continued in the women’s 400m, where they placed 1st, 3rd, and 4th.

The men’s 800m fast section was stacked, producing an entire field of sub-2-minute performances. Samuel Hydro of Missouri Western claimed the win with a strong 1:51.94 finish.

The men’s 1500m fast section featured one of the most thrilling finishes of the day, as three athletes battled down the homestretch. In the end, it was Grant Klay from Colorado Christian who edged ahead of a pair of Salt Lake City CC runners to take the win in 3:50.94.

In the field events, Occidental College’s Oliver Yue took the men’s long jump title with a mark of 6.65m, outjumping CUI’s Max Castin, who had just won the men’s high jump earlier. On the women’s side, CUI’s Jasmyn Crawford dominated the long jump with a leap of 6.16m — nearly a meter farther than the runner-up. Crawford also claimed victory in the 200m final (24.63), continuing her outstanding day.

CUI continued to showcase depth and talent in the women’s high jump, sweeping the podium by taking 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

In the throws, Devin Hernandez impressed with wins in both the men’s shot put (15.17m) and hammer throw (54.90m). Occidental College’s Maurice Romanyshyn, a freshman, came away with the win in the men’s javelin (46.70m).
