USC - Trojan Invitational Recap

The USC Trojan Invite showcased top collegiate performances, with several athletes achieving NCAA-leading marks.

USC’s Jaren Holmes soared to 16.18m in the triple jump, securing the #1 spot in the nation. CSUN’s Trey Knight also claimed the top NCAA ranking with a 77.91m hammer throw.

Fred Kerley made his debut in the Hi-Racer uniform, winning the men’s 100m in 10.23. USC swept the men’s 200m, while CSUN dominated the 400m, led by sophomore Tibyasa Matovu’s 46.55 victory. Long Beach State’s 800m squad impressed, with five men breaking 1:57. Salt Lake City Community College’s Jensen Gannon placed fourth in 1:52-high. SLCC also excelled in the 1500m, finishing 1st, 3rd, and 5th, with Porter Whitworth clocking 3:44.

On the women’s side, USC’s Christine Mallard ran 23.04 in the 200m, securing the nation’s top spot. USC’s 4x400m relay posted 3:33.52, ranking fifth nationally. Freshman Ashley Erasmus dominated the shot put with a 17.82m throw, earning the NCAA’s #1 mark.

In distance events, SLCC’s Elayna Loveridge placed second in the 1500m with 4:37.84, finishing behind Utah’s Kylie Hartnett.
